Michael Torres 141 lbs beat Gilbert Vera 140 lbs by UD in round 8 of 8

  • Weights: Torres 141 lbs, Vera 140 lbs
  • Promoter: Lou Duva

Bout Summary

Vera controlled the action early on in round one as he proved to be the aggressor. After that Torres seemed to take over with his accurate punching power and superb ring generalship. In the sixth round, Torres scored a knockdown. In round seven, Vera's younger brother, Brian Vera, was ejected. Brian was visibly upset as he was escorted away from ringside. Pete Alvarez of the Texas Boxing Commission said "he was told to calm down, and he eventually elbowed me. That is when I decided to have him thrown out." The last round was very entertaining as Vera dropped his hands and taunted Torres to hit him. Vera also proved to be more effective in that round, however it was too little, too late as Torres won the fight.
