After going to the Pacific Coast and returning to the East Coast, Biss fought as Mickey Blake of Los Angeles. Upon returning, the fact that he was Mickey Biss was detected by his manager Robert Irwin after he was knocked out in Bethlehem, by Jack Portney. Irwin presented evidence that he had a five-year contract with Biss, which Biss was violating in his use of the assumed name.

According to the 1930 U.S. Census Records database on Ancestry.com, one Nicholas Biss, a 22-year-old native of New Jersey and a "Pugilist," was living with his wife, Josephine, in a rented home in Garfield, New Jersey during 1930.
According to his page on the Find A Grave website, one Mickey Biss was born during 1907 and died during 1975. He is buried in the Saint Michael's Cemetery in South Hackensack, New Jersey.
According to the U.S., Social Security Death Index, 1935-2014 database on Ancestry.com, one Nicholas Biss was born in November 15, 1906 and died during Febuary 1975 with his last residence being in Passaic, New Jersey.
Note- It appears that Mickey Biss was a younger brother of fellow boxer, Steve "Sailor" Biss. Mickey Biss was the brother of boxer Joey Biss (#477172).
