Mickey Royer was the amateur welterweight champion of Uruguay in 1926 and 1928. Although often reported as Uruguayan and living for many years in Montevideo, where he also worked as a journalist, Royer was born in Argentina. He is not to be confused with Salvador Royer, a contemporary light-heavyweight from Uruguay.
