Midget Lavigne vs. Arthur (Kid) Roger
Arthur 'Kid' Roger lost to Armand Midget Lavigne by KO in round 3 of 10
- Date: 1930-02-21
- Location: Memorial Auditorium, Burlington, Vermont, USA
"'Arthur Rogers, of Montreal, was knocked out in the third round of a scheduled ten-heat affair in Burlington, Vt., by Midget Lavigne.' This notice caught the writer's eye in a local paper and it is difficult to believe. Rogers is only 22 or so but has apparently reached the end of his string which may be attributed to faulty handling. Rogers was a great prospect a year ago and packed a terrific punch in both mitts to which a one-round K. O. over Johnny Vacca, of Boston, will testify. But Art was rushed into a match with Pete Sanstol who almost made a monkey out of him, gradually cutting him down to a knockout defeat in seven rounds. Had Rogers been nursed along carefully and trained to improve his boxing and improper stance with his feet spread-eagle flat on the canvas, he might be a top notch attraction on the big money ranks right now. An intensive training session for six months and some thoughtful matchmaking in future might bring back his former confidence and ability."
