Carmelo Costa 125 lbs lost to Miguel Berrios 125 lbs by SD in round 12 of 12
- Date: 1957-03-22
- Location: Madison Square Garden, New York, New York, USA
- Referee: Harry Kessler 7-4
- Judge: Artie Aidala 6-7
- Judge: Harold Barnes 4-8
"Miguel Berrios chased fleet-footed Carmelo Costa out of the featherweight elimination tournament and predicted he would do the same to Hogan (Kid) Bassey if the Nigerian gets on a bicycle in their Washington fight on April 26th. Although he was the aggressor and floored Costa in the 10th round, the Mighty Mite won only by a split decision in the televised 12-rounder at MSG Friday night. Divided though it was, the win moved Miguel into the semifinals of the tourney to decide a successor to retired featherweight champion Sandy Saddler. The knockdown in the 10th, the only one of the contest, proved the difference." -Associated Press
- Unofficial AP scorecard - 8-4 Berrios
- Judge Artie Aidala's card was actually 6-6 in rounds but with NY's supplemental points system in the event of an even card, he had Berrios ahead 7-6 on points.
