Mihail Atanasov Takov ( Bulgarian: Михаил Атансов Таков) competed for the Bulgarian national boxing team in the period 1979-1986, bronze medalist of the World Championship, winner of three bronze medals of the European Championships, silver medalist of the tournament " Druzhba-84 ", winner and prize-winner of many tournaments of international significance. He is also known as a boxing coach.

Biography Mikhail Takov was born on August 9, 1960 in Sofia , Bulgaria . He is the son of the famous Bulgarian boxer Atanas Takov , winner of the 1957 Strandja tournament. He began boxing in the capital's CSKA and subsequently remained here throughout his sports career [ 1 ] .

He first made a name for himself in 1979, winning the domestic police championship in Sofia. He won bronze at the international tournament "Black Diamonds" in Poland.

In 1981, he joined the main team of the Bulgarian national team and attended the European Championship in Tampere , where he brought home a bronze medal won in the first middleweight category - he was stopped by Soviet boxer Alexander Koshkin in the semi-finals. In addition, he won the international Intercup tournament in Germany and competed in the World Cup in Montreal, where he lost to the titled Cuban Armando Martinez in the quarter-finals .

At the 1982 World Championships in Munich, he reached the semi-finals and won bronze, where he was again defeated by Armando Martinez. In the same season, he met Martinez in the final of the home international tournament "Strandja" and again lost to him.

In 1983, he was the best at the Strandzha tournament, won a bronze medal at the European Championship in Varna , where he was defeated by the USSR representative Valery Laptev . He took part in a match meeting with the US team, losing on points to the American boxer Vincent Boulouer.

He was supposed to take part in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles , but Bulgaria, along with other countries of the socialist camp, boycotted the competition for political reasons. Instead, Takov competed in the alternative tournament " Druzhba-84 ", where he won a silver medal in the 71 kg category, losing in the decisive final to Cuban Angel Espinosa .

In 1985, he won the international tournament "Trofeo Italia" in Venice and became a bronze medalist of the European Championship in Budapest , where he lost in the semi-finals to the Soviet boxer Babken Sagradyan . He added a bronze medal to his record, received at the World Championship among military personnel in Bydgoszcz.

The last time he showed any significant results on the international arena was in the 1986 season, when he competed in the world championship in Reno - this time he was unable to get into the number of prize winners, losing in the quarterfinals to the representative of Sweden Lefty Ayed.

After finishing his sports career, he took up coaching. In 1991 and 2012 he was recognized as the best coach in Bulgaria. Since 2013, he has held the position of coordinator of all national boxing teams in the country.
