"It's a rare occasion when a decision for a hometown fighter gets a booing from the fans. But that's what happened at War Memorial Auditorium last night when 9th ranked heavyweight contender Mike DeJohn of Syracuse was awarded a unanimous verdict over unranked Bob Baker of Pittsburgh in a television 10 rounder. This was big Bob's first fight in six months. He looked it too. The pudgy, 6'2", 218 pounder got off woefully slow and was beaten to the punch consistently by the 201 pound DeJohn." -Associated Press
- Unofficial AP scorecard - 7-3 DeJohn
- Unofficial UPI scorecard - 6-3-1 DeJohn
