Archibald appeared to be holding his own in the fifth round, when Raffa landed a left hook to the chin that sent Archibald reeling to the floor. Archibald appeared to be in pain, indicating something was wrong with his left ankle. He made it half way up at the count of seven, before falling down, to be counted out. He was subsequently carried out of the ring, onto the dressing room by his corner. Prior to the knockout, Raffa had won every round, having hurt Archibald in the 3rd round.
