Notes

  • Mike Tyson 5-0 (5 KOs) vs. Larry Sims 3-16-3 (2 KOs)
  • It was the tenth known knockout loss of Sims' professional career.
  • No known footage of the fight exists as it has been said that the film crew who was scheduled to cover the fight failed to show in time. By the time they arrived the fight was over.
  • Another theory is that Tyson's team destroyed the footage because he had a poor performance and when they were sending Tyson's fights around to boxing journalists, they didn't want anyone seeing the fight.
  • The bout as described by William F. McNeil in "The Rise of Mike Tyson, Heavyweight": "Sims, a 30-year-old club fighter with a 10-10 record, approached Tyson very cautiously and stayed out of harm's way for the first two rounds. At the beginning of round three, Mike trapped his man in the corner and delivered a series of crushing body shots. As soon as Sims dropped his hands to protect his ribs, Tyson caught him with a clean right hook and put him in Never-Never-Land for a full ten minutes."
