"Mike Weaver of Los Angeles won the Nevada heavyweight title with a 5th round TKO over Bernardo Mercado on Sunday, despite a claim from Mercado that he was thumbed in the eye with a left jab. The victory for the 208 lb. Weaver gave him his 19th win in 27 bouts. Mercado, 224, is 20-2. He is from Reno. The referee stopped the match at 14 seconds into the 5th round.
