The 118-pound (maximum weight) World Champion, as recognized by the Montreal Athletic Commission. (Click on the "What links here" link in the "toolbox" for a list of these champions.)
This World Title was first recognized May 20, 1931 by the MAC in the Archie Bell vs. Pete Sanstol bout, after concluding that the generally-recognized World Champion, Panama Al Brown, was failing to defend his title. The MAC continued to recognize its own Bantamweight World Champion until at least the mid-1930s.
