Hines died three days following a 6th round knockout loss to Billy Eck of Allentown, PA. The Chairman of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission reported that an autopsy revealed that Hines had suffered a previous brain hemorrhage -"perhaps two weeks or more before Friday night's fight." Hines had suffered a 5th round knockout loss 15 days prior.
