  • April 23rd, 1907 Burley was arrested for the kidnapping of Emma Bolander age 15 with the intent to take her with him to Alaska for "immoral purposes". Burley denied the charge claiming he meant to marry the girl. In July he was released on $500 bail.
  • The Sept. 15, 1908 Tacoma Daily News (Tacoma, WA, USA) mentions a Nick Burley of Ellensburg, WA. His true name, per the paper, was Nicholas Barovich.
  • The March 6, 1911 Tacoma Daily News reported that Burley died of a heart attack on Western Avenue, Seattle, WA. The paper reports that he actually was born in San Jose, CA. He had moved to Portland, OR, then Seattle. He went to Alaska and then to Canada's Yukon Territory in 1899 (Gold Rush?), where he became the Champion of the Yukon. The paper also reports that he was 40-years-old when he died.
