The stocky and powerfull Norwegian Roy Askvold was at his best a very stylish boxer in the classical upright style. But he was sometimes tempted to brawl when his opponent was a brawler. Askvold faced the Yugoslav-born Nick Maric in an 8 rounder, a fight which grew uglier and uglier with both men giving and taking hard punches, as if to prove who was the toughest guy on the street. The verdict went to Askvold probably because he managed to hold a higher tempo.
