In the not televised walkout bout of the seven bout Zab Judah-Jose Armando Santa Cruz main event fight card at the Prudential Center in Newark, in a strange life and death war with two fighters of different sizes, 5'6" Italian fighter 'Little Nicky' DeMarco gave away nearly a foot in height but came forward with greater power and determination to win a 4 round lightweight bout. His opponent, Jose Guzman, a tall fighter with a Mohawk, allowed DeMarco to win rounds one and two. DeMarco bobbed up and down, trying to get inside, and successfully trapped Guzman on the ropes a number of times and slugged it out give and take, landing combinations while neutralizing Guzman's height and reach advantage. Guzman moved to center ring in rounds three and four and scored on DeMarco, but DeMarco kept the pressure on and would not give, countering well enough to get Guzman to 'melt down' several times and simply turn his face away from the bout with his hands down. The bout was allowed to continue, though, and the shorter DeMarco threw everything he had at the taller Guzman to clearly win the decision. Both fighters threw but neither fighter had power, making the bout an even match despite the apparent size disparity. Both fighters breathing heavily in their corners after the third.
