Comments:
- In January 26, Valuev's promoter Boris Dimitrov reported that Don King had picked Beck as Valuev's first title defense.
- On January 28, Sauerland Event chairman Chris Mayer denied that the contract had already been signed.
- Officially announced on April 9.[1][2]
- Valuev makes a successful first defense of his title by dropping Beck in both the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
- The second knockdown came courtesy of a right uppercut.
- Beck was able to beat the count, but then received a barrage of punches fom Valuev, forcing Pabon to call a halt.
