  • In January 26, Valuev's promoter Boris Dimitrov reported that Don King had picked Beck as Valuev's first title defense.
  • On January 28, Sauerland Event chairman Chris Mayer denied that the contract had already been signed.
  • Officially announced on April 9.[1][2]
  • Valuev makes a successful first defense of his title by dropping Beck in both the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
  • The second knockdown came courtesy of a right uppercut.
  • Beck was able to beat the count, but then received a barrage of punches fom Valuev, forcing Pabon to call a halt.
