One of Britain's biggest ring stars of the late 1920s, he amazed the British boxing fraternity with the manner in which he not only beat but thoroughly outclassed some of Europe's best fly, bantam and featherweights while still in his mid teens.

He was renowned for his hard, accurate, lightning-fast straight left (or jab), his quick, clever footwork, punching variety, ring intelligence and all-round boxing skill. He had an attacking style that entertained the crowds, but he tempered this with a rock-like defence. As a growing teenager predominantly fighting full-grown men he was not noted as a knockout puncher.

In its September 1929 issue, The Ring ranked him at number 10 in the world at bantamweight (ratings for the month of July) - he was then aged just 16.

He had his first pro fight at the age of 9 or 10, and his last at age 17.

After his ring career ended, he became a boxing coach and in the late 1940s and early 1950s ran his own gym in New North Road, Shoreditch, London. Mainly he trained amateurs, but he did also train and manage a few pros.

The book Born to Box: The Extraordinary Story of Nipper Pat Daly (Pitch Publishing Ltd, 2018) chronicles Nipper Pat Daly's life and boxing career.
