"Friday night at MSG it was Orlando Zulueta, the 28 year old Cuban, who won all the votes. Zulueta's flapping left piled up points early and Ludwig Lightburn's body-punching drew him even in the middle rounds. Lightburn missed often and failed to apply constant pressure to the fancy Cuban. A low blow by Lightburn cost him at least a draw. Referee Petey Scalzo took the 7th round away from Lightburn for the blow and that turned out to be Zulueta's victory margin." -Associated Press
- Zulueta and Lightburn took this match on short notice when Joey Giambra hurt his hand in training forcing a postponement of his scheduled bout with Rocky Castellani until August 3rd.
