Pasquale "Paddy" Read - The 1960s New England featherweight champion, 86, of Bristol, Rhode Island, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Bristol's Rhode Island Veterans home.

Read was born in Providence on February 9, 1935, and was active from 1954-1968, compiling a record of 26-26-0 (KO 14/KO by 9). Ten of his losses occurred in his last ten fights.

During his career, he defeated such fighters as Jimmy Connors (W-1; L-2), Dick DiVola (W-1; L-1), Ronnie Jones, Gene Fosmire (W-1; L-1), Bobby Soares, Matt Mullane, Tommy Haden (W-2; L-1), and Kid Chick. He also fought such fighters as Ike Chestnut, Johnny Bizzarro, Tommy Tibbs, Dave Hilton, Harry Carroll, Jaime Valladares, Tony Mammarelli, and Beau James.

Outside of boxing, he was a constable for the Thomas Pearlman Law Firm for 40 years.
