"Paolo Rosi weathered a late closing drive by Bobby Scanlon and a left eye which was hacked into a mess to score a split 10 round decision Monday night over the baby-faced Irishman before a booing crowd at the Cow Palace. Rosi piled up points in the first two rounds and nearly had Scanlon down in the opener with a right to the jaw which made Bobby's knees sag. Rosi outslugged Scanlon in several exchanges but also suffered a cut above the right eyebrow which was one of several he was to sustain during the contest. Scanlon's best round was the 8th when he drove Rosi into a neutral corner and was battering the Italian when the bell sounded." -United Press International
