It appears that Peanuts Sinclair started his pro boxing career circa 1909 and had a career lasting only a few years. Some of his 1909 bouts were considered to be "amateur," and were interspersed between pro bouts. [4] In fact, it was reported that in 1909 alone he had faced some 22 opponents. [5] Some of those amateur bouts may be included in the linked pro record here.
Outside of the ring, Sinclair was constantly getting into trouble. In 1910 he was accused of intimacy with a girl under the age of consent. [6] [7] [8].
In 1915 he was arrested for assault on his wife, with intent to kill. [9] [10] Then with pandering. [11] Those charges were dropped when his wife, the primary witness for both crimes, refused to testify. But he still had charges pending of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of yenshee (a form of opium). [12]
And, in 1916, when he was working as a bartender, he was charged with violating the Mann Act and bigamy. [13] [14]
In 1919, he was arrested for smoking opium in Moosejaw, Canada. In 1920, he was again arrested for possession of opium, this time in Calgary.
By 1924 he had been living in Canada for some eight years or so. [15]
In 1938 he was arrested, along with two other men, for an armed robbery. He was acquitted after a trial.
