"Unbeaten Cisco Andrade 133, of Los Angeles, won a unanimous decision over Percy Bassett, 129 1/2, of Philadelphia, the interim featherweight champion, in a 10-round non-title fight here tonight. Andrade, a rugged lightweight, won every round as he handed the featherweight king a bad lacing. Andrade quickly took command and never let up as he pounded out his victory over the man who rules the featherweights while champion Sandy Saddler is in the Army. Bassett had a face full of left hooks all night and never was able to get set. At the end, both of Bassett's eyes were swollen nearly shut, while Andrade bore only a bruise over his left eye." -Associated Press
- Although this bout was nationally televised by ABC, it was blacked out in the Washington area. Only a few hundred fans attended the fight in the Uline Arena.
