Initially appearing as a careful chessmatch between tall, lanky counterpunchers, suddenly with one surprising move this bout came to an abrupt end. With a sharp, slicing lefthook which he later described as heaven-sent,The Pugilistic Preacher dumped The Trashman headfirst center-ring. Quickly regaining a vertical position,Dudley's gloves were wiped off as the referee proceeded to let the match continue.Nevertheless,a state appointed physician immediately halted the affair citing a glassy look in the eyes of the fallen warrior.
Postnote: With the outcome of this bout,Ludwinski secured a spot in Michael Spinks training camp for the then Heavyweight champs successful title defense against Gerry Cooney.
