Peter Keenan 118 lbs beat John Smillie 118 lbs by TKO in round 6 of 15
- Date: 1957-05-22
- Location: Firhill Park, Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom
- Referee: Jack Hart
"Peter Keenan retained his British and Empire bantamweight titles when he scored a KO over John Smillie in the 6th. Keenan was the receiver general for most of the early rounds, but he must be given every credit for taking advantage of an opening that brought victory within his grasp. This came in the 6th. A left to the body followed by a right to the jaw slumped the challenger on the canvas for the count of eight. He rose unsteady and was a target for a fusillade of punches. Another count of nine was tolled over him before he gamely got to his feet, only for referee Jack Hart to wisely step in to stop Keenan going in for another hail of blows that would certainly have ended the contest." -Ring Magazine, August 1957 issue
- This win marked the first time a Scot won two Londsdale Belts.
