The Ring,September 1961, reported:

" Cologne,Germany. Despite bad weather, 5000 fans attended the Exhibition Hall to watch wisecracking Peter Mueller tangle with Paul Roux, the French cruiser champion. [...]. Mueller came in at 159 against Roux's 174 and also conceded advantages in height and reach; in the first few rounds Mueller sped around the ring like a lightweight but was eventually forced to go in and mix with the bigger man in order to score. In the fourth round he ducked under Roux's hefty swings and battered away at head and body, opening a bad cut under Roux's right eye. In the next round, the Cologne scrapper slipped and fell heavily into the ropes. When he regained his footing it was seen that he had gashed open a nasty cut on the left temple and the fall also cost him a count from the referee.

Mueller wisely elected to box in the following rounds but Roux kept plugging away and the Rhinelander was soon drawn again into a free- for- all. Both fighters were covered in blood and the fight grew more desperate as round followed round. By the tenth, Roux's extra weight was beginning to tell and he cornered Mueller on the ropes and belted away with both hands. Mueller weathered quite a shellacking before he could slug his way out and at the final gong the bloodsoaked battlers were still wearily hammering away toe to toe. The referee lifted Roux's arm in token of victory which brought a storm of protest from ringsiders and galleryites but it was later discovered that referee Tomser had counted his card incorrectly and the verdict was altered to " No Decision " ".
