Peter Weiland vs. Paul Kraus
Peter Weiland beat Pauli Kraus by TKO in round 6 of 10
- Date: 1967-02-11
- Location: Ostseehalle, Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany
It was a battle of eccentrics when Germany's "Tony Galento" Peter Weiland of Kiel faced the Dutch-German Pauli "Bomber" Kraus. The 108 kilo Weiland, a contender for the German heavyweight title, faced the Bomber who now had established his reputation as very dangerous, that is in the first two rounds. And Weiland got trouble in the first two rounds. Kraus rained in hooks from left and right, Weiland always on the retreat. By the 3rd Weiland began to hit back, and Kraus was as usual willing to take five punches on his forehead to land one big. In the 4th both men were asked to stop talking while fighting. By the 5th Weiland landed many heavy right hands. It was however a surprise when Bomber Kraus walked to his corner in the middle of the 6th and gave up the fight.
Weiland won the German heavy title two years later by outpointing Jurgen Blin.
