Bout Summary
Cote came out sharply and controlled the opening round. A more competitive Round 2 was closed with Cote landed solid right hands against Lloyd. Lloyd appeared to be momentarily hurt from a series of right uppercuts. Cote was warned in the round for holding the back of Lloyd's head while throwing right uppercuts. Cote landed a couple clean shots in Round 3 and continued to be the busier man as Lloyd barely threw other than an occasional jab. Round 4 was largely plagued by holding and action was paused to advise both men to stop tying up his opponent. A "class" right uppercut at 0:15 of Round 5 put Lloyd on his backside against the ropes. He got to a knee quickly before getting to his feet at the count of eight. A left hook to the jaw at 2:11 sent Lloyd down for the second time. He again got to his feet at the count of eight. Cote continued to throw and land as Lloyd mostly remained covered up. With Lloyd hurt, taking punches, and not returning shots, the referee stepped in and waved an end to the bout.
