Pone Kingpetch 112 lbs beat Pascual Perez 110 lbs by TKO at 2:32 in round 8 of 15

"Pone Kingpetch of Thailand retained his world flyweight championship Thursday night when he battered ex-champ Pascual Perez of Argentina into submission at 2:32 of the 8th round of their scheduled 15-round match. The Thai had the veteran battler hanging on and virtually helpless when referee Mushy Callahan halted the struggle. The knockout was the first in the long career of the game Argentine and only his third defeat in 53 fights. Kingpetch, 111 1/2, used his 3-inch advantage in reach and his 7-inch edge in height and a devastating rapier-like left to cut Perez down. Pone belted him mercilessly in the belly, shifted to the head and then back to the mid-section. The Thai had Perez, 110 1/2, bleeding from a bad gash on the left cheekbone, both eyes badly bloodshot and a very tired ex-champion far outclassed at the end." -Associated Press
