Preben Rasmussen beat Michel Danjou by PTS in round 8 of 8

" Someday I'll make it to the top, " was the song Danish light welter Preben Rasmussen had been singing to the press for a few years. Except for an unfortunate KO- loss early in his career, he only had one loss, to Irish veteran Jim (Spike) McCormack on points. But Rasmussen never seemed to get a win who could propell him to the European top and a title fight. His career now had become something of a personal drama.

In Forum, Copenhagen, he struggeled hard with the mediocre but honest fighter Michel Danjou of France who had a 11-11-6 record. Rasmussen was the better technican, Danjou the better puncher. In the 5th Rasmussen was floored twice, but got up to score more points with straight lefts and rights.

Rasmussen got the verdict, but it was disputed by the crowd.

In his following fight Rasmussen was KO' d by British Peter Quinn and retired from boxing.
