Danish lightweight hope Preben Rasmussen wept openly when he realized he had been knocked out by Sion Lellouche, a Tunisian who had a fine 8-1-3 record after a good start i France during 1964 and 1965. It was Rasmussen's first loss in a 6 fight career.
After 90 seconds of round 1, an invisible overhand right hit the Dane on the jaw. " Reminiscent of Clay's KO of Liston last year, " wrote Berlingske Tidende.
Rasmussen stumbled to the ropes, stumbled back to the center of the ring where he went down on his knees. He was up at 8, too dazed to continue in the opinion of Swedish referee Bengt Almqvist.
