In a highly charged and dramatic bout, the Danish light welter Preben Rasmussen (24-1-1-) 63 kg was awarded a 5-0 win over Norwegian lightweight Tore Magnussen (13-4-0 ) 61 kg. Both were aiming at Pedro Carrascos European Lightweight title. After one minute Magnussen floored the Dane with a short right. Rasmussen survived the round. Another right from Magnussen shook Rasmussen at the beginning of the 2nd. The middle rounds were even, both fighters scoring at half distance. In the 7th the Dane took a standing count after a crisp right from the Norwegian. Then in the 8th, Rasmussen floored the Norwegian with a right. Magnussen fell out between the ropes. He got up at 8, held on desperately to the ropes a barely survived the last 30 seconds when Rasmussen poured punches with both hands.

The Danish newspaper " Berlingske Tidende " found the decision perfectly all right, while " Politiken " wrote that this home win came " to everyone's surprise ".
