Professor Gus Troxler was a New Jersey boxing promoter and club owner of the 1910s. His most well-known venue was the Central Institute of Newark, New Jersey, sometimes known as Troxler's Central Institute.
A "novelty" he introduced at his venue was to have signs with the boxers' names in their corners so that patrons knew who was who. [1]
Although he had presented many shows over the years, by late December 1914 boxing was pretty much shutting down throughout the state of New Jersey. See "Letter to the Editor" in the December 29 Newark Evening Star. [2]
