"Ralph Charles, West Ham, 148 1/2, upcoming hopeful for Johnny Cooke's welterweight title, gave an impressive performance in stopping Abder Faradji, Algeria, 149, in the 5th round. The Algerian won the first with Charles sizing up his opponent, and from then on it was all Charles. Faradji suffered a cut eye and nose coming up for the 5th, only to suffer more facial damage.
