  • Referee: John Thomas

"Pin-pointing his punches beautifully, Raul Rojas continued his bid for another crack at the featherweight championship by knocking out Ricardo (Pajarito) Moreno at 2:40 of the 2nd round of their grudge rematch Friday night at the L.A. Sports Arena. Rojas was master of the situation from the opening bell until the end came late in the 2nd round. Three successive right hands finished off the 'Little Bird'. The first, a right cross to the chin as he came charging in, Stopped him in his tracks. Rojas quickly followed with another right that buckled Moreno's knees and then delivered the coup de grace - a terrific right flush on the chin that dropped Pajarito flat on his back with his head resting against the lower strand of ropes. Moreno didn't stir until the count reached four, but even though dazed and badly hurt, he tried valiantly to climb to his feet. But just as he was about to make it, the count ran out and referee John Thomas signaled it was over." -Long Beach Press-Telegram
