New York Golden Gloves Champion

Ray Hammond was a two time New York Golden Gloves Champion. Hammond won the 1970 and the 1971 135lb Open Championships. In 1970 Hammond defeated Carlos Marchand of the Islip Town Recreation in the finals and in 1971 Hammond defeated Richie Villanueva of the Jersey City Recreation to win the title. Hammond trained at the Wagner Youth Center.
