- Referee: Larry Rozadilla
"Ray Lampkin, ranked No. 2 lightweight in the world, stopped Pete Vital, 137 1/2, at 2:42 into the 1st round of a scheduled 10 round main event Thursday night at the Olympic Auditorium. Utilizing a clever counter-punching style, Lampkin scored effectively, confusing a back-pedaling Vital. After a brief exchange, Lampkin caught Vital coming off the ropes to land a picture left to drop him on the ropes. Slowly getting up, Vital came straight at Lampkin, who threw a jolting right uppercut that knocked Vital unconscious before he hit the canvas." -Pasadena Star-News
