"Ray Lunny III went through another learning experience at the Cow Palace last night and, in the process, advanced his unblemished ring record to 19-0-3. Last evening it was Jose Fernandez who provided the lesson for young Ray. Gliding behind a rapier left jab which seemed to almost go through Fernandez' face at times, Lunny sped out to a big early lead and then withstood a late rally by the visitor. Lunny swept the first five rounds and it looked like another easy evening. But in the 6th, Fernandez exploded a right lead off Lunny's jaw and Ray staggered flat-footed back into the ropes. The bell saved Lunny from further trouble. Fernandez rallied in the 9th and 10th rounds, but it was too little, too late. Ray, ducking and weaving, was in complete command at the conclusion of the final round." -San Mateo Times
