Ray Lunny III 136 lbs drew with Miguel Mayan 136 lbs by MD in round 10 of 10

"Ray Lunny, tired and his right eye completely swollen and obscured, was awarded a draw with clever Miguel Mayon of Sonora, Mexico - at the San Jose Civic Auditorium last night. Mayon came out fast at the opening bell and pressed the action, looping hooks and shooting jabs. But Lunny got serious in the 2nd round, which proved to be his best of the night, when his left hook thrice shook Mayon. But Ray sustained a huge mouse under the right eye. By the 4th stanza the eye had nearly shut and Mayon either won or tied Lunny in the next four rounds. In the 9th, Lunny, appearing very tired, came out banging left hooks and an occasional right hand before collapsing in a tangle of arms. The last round was purely Mayon as his endurance outsped the floundering Lunny." -San Mateo Times

  • Both fighters weighed 136 1/2
