  • Date: 1931-02-20
  • Location: Olympia Stadium, Detroit, Michigan, USA
  • "Ray Miller, Chicago lightweight, used his famous left hook to knock out Johnny Jadick of Philadelphia, in the 1st round of a 10-round bout at Olympia Arena tonight. Miller's first blow sent Jadick down for the count. 10,000 fans saw what turned out to be the shortest fight on record at Olympia. Hardly had the sound of the opening gong died away when Miller, stepping around his opponent once, flashed his noted left hook to the Philadelphia boy's jaw. And Jadick went down. At the count of eight he tried to get to his feet but fell back on his elbows. As referee Al Day tolled off 'ten', Jadick was getting to his feet again, but it was apparent that he was unable to continue. The knockout punch was the only blow struck. From the time the starting bell sounded until Jadick was counted out, only 19 seconds had elapsed." -Associated Press
