Ray Robinson 146 lbs beat Eberto Medina 148 lbs by UD in round 6 of 6

In a preliminary bout on an Atlantic City card promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and gofighttv.com that went out over the internet live, a close bout between welterweights which looked like it could have gone either way was won by unbeaten Ray Robinson, who improved his record to 9-0. Along the way, Robinson 'got taken to school' by journeyman Eberto Medina, whose 5-4 record was deceptive. Medina took the first three rounds to Robinson, moving forward and outjabbing his opponent. Medina's best jabs connected late in the third, wobbling Robinson, who was in big trouble. Rounds four to six belonged to Robinson, who moved forward and backed up Medina and made a fight of it, starting a war. Robinson's jabs were the ones connecting in the second half of the fight, and Medina did his best to hang on and just survive. Robinson dropped Medina with a straight left hand just before the final bell, giving him the points edge.
