Raymond Smith was a four time finalist in the New York Daily News Golden Gloves' open championships In 1956 of the PAL vs. Albert Pell at flyweight, in 1957 of the Webb-Church Center vs. Albert Pell at flyweight, in 1960 of the Kirkpatrick PAL vs. Reyes Crus at bantamweight and in 1962 of the Kilpatrick Center PAL vs. George Colon at flyweight.
