According to a May 14, 2012, telephone interview with a BoxRec Editor, middleweight Richard 'Dick' Brookman had ten career bouts: five in Sitka around 1954, and five more in Anchorage during 1955-56, when he was serving in the United States Army at Fort Richardson. (He also engaged in martial arts fighting long after his boxing career ended.) After he was discharged from the Army, Brookman moved to Seattle, where he spent 25 years with the Seattle Fire Department next to Ivar's on the city waterfront. He retired there in Sept. 1982, and moved back to Sitka in 1984, where he owned a fishing charter business for 15 years. As of May 2012, he still resides in Sitka and can be found every morning at 8 having coffee at the P Club.
