Craney died at age 36 after collapsing following a workout. An autopsy revealed the cause of death being arterial disease. Craney had been training for an upcoming bout on the undercard of the WBO Welterweight Title fight between Manning Galloway and Nika Khumalo. Craney had previously been the Maine State Welterweight champion.
