Melvin Paul 134 lbs lost to Robin Blake 136 lbs by TKO at 2:21 in round 6 of 10

"Undefeated Robin Blake of Levelland, Texas made a strong bid to become the WBA's #1 lightweight contender by stopping Melvin Paul of New Orleans by TKO in the 6th round of a scheduled 10 round bout Saturday. Blake forced referee Joey Curtis to halt the fight at 2:21 of the 6th after hitting Paul with three lefts and a right to the head. Blake jumped on Paul at the start of the 6th, stunning him with a left hook to the head. Another left to the head put him in even more trouble and after the Texan landed five lefts and a right to the head, Curtis called for a standing eight-count. The brief respite did Paul no good, for seconds later Blake stopped him for good to end the nationally televised main event at the Showboat Hotel." -The Odessa American
