"Rodolfo Gonzalez, 135, Long Beach, Calif., battered Steve Freeman, 135 1/2, Houston, Texas, with left hooks, scoring a knockout at 2:02 of the 5th round in Thursday night's scheduled 10 rounder at the Olympic Auditorium. Gonzalez opened a cut over Freeman's right eye in the 4th round, then belted him into submission in the 5th. Freeman was down twice in the 5th before Referee John Thomas stopped the lightweight bout." -Pasadena Star-News
