"Rodrigo Valdes, the 4th ranked welterweight contender from Columbia went into his 10 round fight against Pete Toro Monday night riding a string of five straight knockouts and came out on the short end of a decision. Valdes cut Toro on the left eyelid in the 2nd round, but Toro began taking charge in the 3rd round. Toro hurt Valdes several times in the 6th round, dropped him in the 7th and had him on the verge of a knockout in the 10th." -Associated Press
