Roger Rischer 197 lbs beat Eduardo Corletti 198 lbs by SD in round 10 of 10

"Roger Rischer, 197, Oakland, once a candidate for the fistic scrap heap, is the latest to expose the WBA's incredible mistake of ranking Eduardo Corletti the #2 contender. The clever and still capable Rischer gave Corletti's ribs a thorough battering then weathered a late onslaught to nab a 10-round split decision last night at the San Francisco Civic Auditorium. Rischer worked over Corletti's mid-section round after round and Eduardo turned away and almost sagged to the canvas in the 6th when a couple of lefts thudded to his inflamed side. But in the 7th, Corletti, 198, Argentina, began to come on a bit and in the 9th he had Rischer in trouble against the ropes after landing a big right to the chin. Rischer appeared to be a sitting duck in the 10th, but Corletti couldn't put him away and had to retreat when more body punches found their way home." -Oakland Tribune

Post-fight comment

  • "Corletti got hit a lot in the kidneys and nothing was said. He's been doing most of his fighting in Europe, where a kidney punch is a foul. Even so I thought he won." -Augie DeMilte, Corletti's manager
