"Critics who had been saying that 6th rated Denver heavyweight Ron Lyle had lost his KO punch will have to find new faults. Lyle, who had gone through the last six fights without a KO, scored a knockout over 13th ranked Jose Luis Garcia of Caracas, Venezuela, at 1:59 of the 3rd round at the Denver Coliseum Wednesday night before 3,000 fans. Lyle and Garcia moved cautiously in the initial round but Lyle had Garcia in the corner in the 2nd round preceding the 3rd round KO. Lyle used left-right combinations to the body to wear down his opponent and then a left-right combo finished the fight. Garcia fell out of the roped ring area where he took the count." -Colorado Springs Gazette
