Ron Wilson was a member of the South Burnaby Boxing Club and competed in the 1967 British Columbia Golden Gloves Tournament. He became a professional later in 1967 and moved to California, where he lived for 30 years. While a pro, Wilson shared the ring with Olympians Roger Rouse and Johnny Baldwin, eventual world champion Marvin Camel, Tony Mundine, Andy Heilman, Mike Quarry, Rudy Robles, Chris Finnegan, Rafael Gutierrez, and Marcos Geraldo.
A February 9, 2014 blog indicated Wilson was living homeless in Vancouver.
