"Anyone who thinks undefeated Gene Armstrong doesn't pack a wallop should ask Rory Calhoun. Calhoun should know. He hit the deck four times and was staggered several more times in losing a lopsided 10 round decision to the underrated Armstrong at MSG Friday night. Calhoun had the punching reputation but it was the classy boxing Armstrong who furnished the fistic fireworks. He decked Rory for six in the 1st round, for counts of two in the 2nd and 4th, and for three in the 9th. Calhoun received the mandatory eight count each time. Calhoun rocked Armstrong with a right to the head in the 8th but couldn't follow up." -Associated Press
